A constellation is a group of stars that form a recognizable pattern in the night sky. These patterns often represent animals, mythological figures, or objects, and they have been used by various cultures throughout history for navigation, storytelling, and astrology. The stars in a constellation can be at very different distances from Earth, but from our perspective, they appear to be grouped together.
The word "constellation" comes from the Latin word constellatio, which combines constellare, meaning "to set stars," from con- (together) and stella (star).
